How it works

Three steps, no settings to learn.

  1. Add your presets

    Drag a preset folder, the whole Presets folder or the SD card onto the window. BB2DAW lists every preset it finds.

  2. Press Convert

    Each preset gets a status as it goes: done, missing samples, or failed with the reason. Rename any preset before converting.

  3. Open in DAW

    One click opens the finished set in Live. Sets are saved in your Music folder, one folder per preset.

16, 32 and 64 steps, still locked together.

Sequences of different lengths keep their own length in Live and loop against each other exactly as on the Blackbox. Swing follows the Blackbox's own feel. BB2DAW was tested on 28 real presets, each opened in Live 12 and checked note by note against the original.

Questions

Before you convert

Some samples are listed as missing. Why?

Presets that use samples from elsewhere on the card don't carry them in their folder. On the Blackbox, run Pack on the preset first: it copies every sample into the preset folder. You can also convert straight from the SD card.

Which versions does it need?

A Mac with Apple Silicon and Ableton Live 12. BB2DAW reads presets from current Blackbox firmware.

Does it change my presets?

No. BB2DAW only reads the preset. The Live set and copies of the samples are written to a new folder.

Is anything left out?

Notes aimed at an empty pad are skipped, and slicer pads keep their first 64 slices. Blackbox effects and modulation are not converted yet.

Do I need to be online?

Only once, to activate your licence key. Conversions run on your Mac.
